When I arrived at Opal Sands I stepped onto the beach with my toes in the sand to capture the perfect blue skies, ocean and palm trees! We all couldn’t have expected what was to come later that day. Kassidy was smiling ear to ear while getting ready! The wind was so strong that we had some difficulty hanging her dress on the balcony but the rain wasn’t supposed to come until after sunset. When we arrived at Harborside Chapel, Kassidy and Garret did a “first touch” behind the door. Garrett mentioned to me that he was nervous but so excited to see his bride! They held hands and it was so sweet! The day was partly cloudy and windy but the sun was streaming through the windows of Harborside Chapel and the florals Kassidy chose were stunning!
I remember checking the radar immediately before the ceremony. The latest report showed it would rain at 7:30pm. After we headed outside for the exit, the clouds began to look gloomy so we started capturing bride and groom portraits in front of the chapel and raced to beat the rain. After only capturing three photos, we ran inside for cover. Thankfully there is a covered patio outside of the bridal suite! We only had 10 minutes of bride and groom portrait time but their pictures were gorgeous! Kassidy and Garrett are so joyful, happy and in love so they’re naturals in front of the camera which made portrait time a breeze!
The wedding vendors, Opal Sands staff, guests and bridal party were all stuck in traffic for two hours on the way to the reception! (Normally it only takes thirty minutes.) Even with the unexpected severe weather, traffic at a stand still, roads closed due to flooding on the beach and only a few minutes for bride and groom portraits, their wedding was still absolutely beautiful!
The weather on Kassidy and Garrett’s special day was such a beautiful representation of life and marriage. Life will bring unexpected storms but the sun will always come back out again. Weddings aren’t just about getting a new last name, wearing your dream gown or dancing the night away. The celebration is about making a commitment to stand by each other no matter what storms may come and choosing joy! This was the first day of their forever. There will be many more adventures they will experience together as husband and wife!
We loved celebrating with this loving, fun and sweet family! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Rider!! I hope you enjoy some of my favorites!
